The Story Behind Kyle's Iris Design

"I grow bearded irises and look forward to their spectacular display each spring plus the smaller encore in the fall with my rebloomers. My favorite color is purple and irises have a particularly beautiful range of intense blue violets, bright lavenders and rich plum colors. My yard has very rocky soil and it is very difficult to plant anything very deep. I tried planting a gladiola bulb once at the required 14" depth. It took me an hour to dig that deep, and that was the end of that. My sister recommended irises because they are planted just below the surface.
