Promoting Healthy Eating Through Subliminal Images

Encourage a Healthy Diet with Fruit & Veggie Motifs

Subliminal Messages May Provide Impetus Needed to Improve Dietary Choices

By Kyle McKeown Mansfield

cherries-keychains.jpgCould art make you healthy? Health officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that less than one third of American adults eats the recommended 5 daily servings of fruits and vegetables. One easy way to help us all make good choices is through the use of functional art. When you design your home with fruit and vegetable motifs they can serve as subliminal messages that selecting fruits and veggies is important for your diet.

For example, clip your shopping list onto your refrigerator with a Grape Magnet, and be sure to list nutritious food choices including whole grains, fruits and vegetables. You can have a constant positive message on your keys with a Cherry Key Chain.

Any of these ideas just might provide the impetus needed to reach for a healthy snack or make better choices at mealtimes. Any actions that further the government's goal of getting 75% of Americans to eat two servings of fruits and three servings of vegetables every day by the year 2010 is a step in the right direction. Even small lifestyle changes such as these can help you make choices that promote a long and healthy life.
