What does the Graduation design symbolize?

Kyle's Graduate or Scholar design features a mortarboard cap with a hanging tassel plus a scroll tied with a ribbon. The mortarboard derived its name from a tool used by bricklayers that has a similar shape used for manipulating mortar when laying bricks. The scroll can represent both a diploma that was presented upon graduating or scholarly works under study. In academia, prior to the graduation ceremony, the mortarboard tassel sometimes is worn on one side and afterwards it is moved to the other. But how a tassel is worn on a mortarboard may depend upon the level of study or the traditions at a particular academic institution. Tassel colors may be those of the school's colors or may reflect the field of study.
