What is the personal significance to you of the Butterfly design?
Kyle says: "My family spent summers in the forests of Humboldt County in northern California during the 1960s. My dad was building a very unusual 12-sided cabin and my sister and I would play outdoors from sunrise to sunset. There were gorgeous butterflies that would dance above our heads as we chased them - giant yellow Swallowtails, bright orange Monarchs, and many others - that were so much more common then. Their bright colors would stand out dramatically against the dark forest trees or dry open areas of brush. The very first piece of artwork that my mother saved of mine was that of a Monarch butterfly that I drew with crayons when I was 3-1/2. I'm not surprised that it would be a butterfly because they were so striking. I still have this drawing."

I'd like to choose a background color for this design that relates to the butterfly? Are there any special colors associated with butterflies?
Butterflies are known for their gorgeous brightly colored wings. Any of our iridescent or aluminum colors in the pink, red, orange, purple, yellow or blue family would be an excellent choice to bring out the detail in the butterfly's wings. Or, if you are concerned with authenticity, butterflies can only see yellow, green and red which would make an equally stunning background color.
