What defines Mission style?
The definition of Mission style varies by geography. In the Southwest, this term is generally applied to a revival of Spanish Mission architecture. In other areas of the United States, this label refers to muted colors and angular forms as seen during the Arts & Crafts movement.

What is the main difference between the Mission, Craftsman and Prairie style?
Although all three of these movements were inspired by the Arts and Crafts, the differences are mostly regional. Mission inspired architecture with stucco, tiled roofs and rounded doorways were first introduced in California and Texas. Bungalow homes were built across North America while Frank Lloyd Wright was designing Prairie style homes throughout the Midwest.

Where did the Mission style first appear?
Unpretentious with little or no adornment, Mission styles were first introduced in old missions which were erected in Texas and California. The term "Mission Style" as passed down from the rancho manors of the Californio period.
