What inspired you to create the Alien design?
Kyle says: "Our family ended up with a soft spot for aliens and UFOs so of course I created an alien design. When my eldest daughter was 18 months old, my husband took her to visit his parents in South Dakota while I was exhibiting at an arts and crafts festival. Their flight connection through Denver was cancelled. The airlines put them up for the night in a hotel that was having a UFO convention. There were some participants dressed as aliens that caught their eye. At the restaurant, my husband drew pictures of the aliens on the kids' menu and taught our daughter to say the word alien. From then on, she was fascinated by aliens. At street carnivals, all the other little girls would want an inflatable unicorn or kitty, but my daughter wanted the green 5' blow-up Martian which she could dress up in her Cruella De Vil costume. And our youngest daughter, having come into this world seeing costumed alien toys, wanted to be an alien for Halloween her first year out trick-or-treating, so that's what I sewed for her. She loved it."
