What is the personal significance to you of the Butterfly design?
Kyle says: "My family spent summers in the forests of Humboldt County in northern California during the 1960s. My dad was building a very unusual 12-sided cabin and my sister and I would play outdoors from sunrise to sunset. There were gorgeous butterflies that would dance above our heads as we chased them - giant yellow Swallowtails, bright orange Monarchs, and many others - that were so much more common then. Their bright colors would stand out dramatically against the dark forest trees or dry open areas of brush. The very first piece of artwork that my mother saved of mine was that of a Monarch butterfly that I drew with crayons when I was 3-1/2. I'm not surprised that it would be a butterfly because they were so striking. I still have this drawing."

Will the included screws be long enough to install my butterfly switch plate on my raised tile back splash?
Longer screws are often needed in these applications because the electrical box is mounted behind the deep material and the receptacle is in front of it. The standard screw length for rocker and Despard openings is 1/4", the standard screw length for all other openings (toggle, outlet, blank, etc.) is 1/2". Take a quick look at your setup or check with the installer to confirm if the standard screw lengths will be long enough. If you need longer screws we sell extra long screws in 1" and 1.5" lengths.

Will this butterfly switch plate look good installed on its side?
The butterfly decorative plate was designed to be installed vertically. For situations where your switch plate has been installed horizontally (it is wider than it is tall), if you don't mind the butterflies being viewed sideways it is still beautiful installed on its side.
