Why did Kyle create the Iris design?
Kyle says: "I grow bearded irises and look forward to their spectacular display each spring plus a smaller encore in the fall with my rebloomers. My favorite color is purple and irises in particular have a beautiful range of intense blue violets, bright lavenders and rich plum colors. My yard has very rocky soil and it is very difficult to plant anything very deep. I tried planting a gladiola bulb once which must be planted 14" deep. It took me an hour, and that was the end of that. My sister recommended irises because they are planted just below the surface. She shared some of her rhizomes with me and that got me hooked."

What do Iris flowers symbolize?
Depending on their color, the iris can convey a variety of emotions and messages. Mainly, irises symbolize eloquence, but this differs according to culture and language. The purple iris usually represents wisdom whereas the blue iris stands for hope and faith. A few of my electrical boxes have badly cut openings around them, and a standard size plate isn't large enough to cover the opening. Do you sell larger Iris decorative switch plates that will give me more coverage?

We are remodeling our kitchen and installing a solid surface countertop. Will we need longer screws to mount the decorative switch plates?
Longer screws are often needed in these applications because the electrical box is mounted behind the deep material and the receptacle is in front of it. The standard screw length for Despard and rocker openings is 1/4", the standard screw length for all other switch plate openings (toggle, outlet, blank, etc.) is 1/2". Take a quick look at your setup or check with the installer to confirm. We do have extra long screws available for just such installation situations if you should need them.
