What is "RFI filter"?
RFI stands for Radio Frequency Interference. An RFI filter reduces electrical noise, that humming noise you sometimes hear from lights or switches.

Will this dimmer device work with an energy efficient CFL?
No, this dimmer knob will only work with incandescent light bulbs. If you wire this device to a compact fluorescent light bulb it will only turn off or on to it's brightest, it will not be capable to dim.
