It was based on the hot pink satin dress from the 1953 movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Marilyn Monroe is singing "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and showing off all of her diamond jewelry. My family howled with laughter during the 2011 Academy Awards when host James Franco came out wearing a version of it. Très chic!"
