What does the original figure of Kokopelli look like?
Kokopelli is believed to have originally been a pictograph depicting ancient Aztec traders. This symbolic figure mainly presides over childbirth and agriculture, as well as the reproduction of game animals. Although he predominantly worshiped as a fertility deity, he is also considered a tricksters, musician, insect, roaming salesman, seducer, magician and warrior. This is why he can be illustrated with a flute, cane, or large phallus. Besides gifts, on what else can the Kokopelli design be found? The Kokopelli depiction can be found on anything from furniture, jewelry, pottery and even clothing. Earlier depictions illustrate Kokopelli with a very insect-like appearance in a dance form and is often represented with a large phallus symbolizing the seeds of human reproduction. For how long has the Kokopelli image existed? The Kokopelli symbol has been idolized since the era of the Ancient Pueblo peoples. A drawing resembling Kokopelli was discovered on pottery which dates back to sometime between 750-850 AD.
