What served as the inspiration for this Dragon emblem?
Kyle's fondness of Asian cultures started at an early age when her great-uncle sent her family a handmade kimono from Japan. Soon after, her great-uncle was tragically killed in the Kanto Earthquake of 1923. As artists themselves, Kyle's parents were early collectors of Japanese woodblock prints by Joichi Hoshi and Kiyoshi Saito which sparked her interest in Japanese artwork. Later, as a teenager, Kyle studied Japanese and even went to Japan for 3 weeks to further develop her language skills and it was here that she acquired a taste of Japanese mythology. The Dragon is a well-known symbol in Japanese mythology and Kyle created this design to honor ancient Japanese folklore.
