Administrative Professionals Day is celebrated on the Wednesday of Administrative Professionals Week. Originally created in 1952, National Professional Secretaries Week and National Secretary's Day were designed to recognize the importance and value of the position to a company or business. In 2000 the name was changed to Administrative Professionals Week.
The earlier goal of this holiday was to encourage more women to become secretaries at a time when these positions were traditionally held by women. Today, however, the job encompasses much more responsibility, specialized knowledge and skill, and is held by both men and women.
However you decide to do it, please remember to recognize and appreciate a job well done.
